Bring Em ON!

Post  Admin on Mon Jan 12, 2009 7:38 am

The Department is here for you- you are important to the department so bring on the requests, and we'll try our "bestest" to fulfill them! Very Happy

For instance, do you have a field trip you'd like to plan? Is there any kind of activity you want to set up? You name it and we'll work on it!

hey! everyone,
I'm doing electrical eng., 1st year, 1st semester.
It triggered me, as soon as I rad about other activites, such as field trips and etc...
and what about IEEE society, who and how can I join? also is there any student exchange programme.
Getting exposure will be great...actually I dont have much idea, what sort of field trips can be arranged.
and one last thing...out of context..is the university is accredited by ABET.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
yeah, one more thing, I'm working currently on to projects, the status of the project is that I'm studying them, right now, soon I need a circuit board and etc...
who is the right person to contact with
thank you
please reply, admin

hey!

hey u00015734. ok, u asked about joining the IEEE society. I'll definitely send some of the participants of the IEEE an email right now telling them u r interested!
As for field trips and activities, the department usually takes us on trips to conferences...etc. if u hv a suggestion for an educational field trip we can definitely try our best to make it happen!
about our accreditation. i'll ask about ABET accreditation cuz i dont hv much info on that. i know we are one of two universities (UoS and UAE uni in al-ain) in UAE accredited through the ministry of education, which REALLY helps when u r trying to get a job (especially a government job). also our department itself is accredited by something in the US. lol, i'll try to get u the accreditation info ASAP inshALLAH. Smile

Field Trip + Exchange Programs

Post  Black Prez on Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:09 pm

Hi,
There will be a field trip to ALTAI distribution substation, (in Sharjah) on this Wednesday, everyone is welcome to come. We shall gather at 8:00 in the front of M7. The only limitation is the bus capacity which is 25 passengers. (priority will be given to Power System Analysis and Electromechanical Systems Students, but I think there will be plenty of free seats) as you know "nobody is interested"

about the exchange programs.. we hear a lot of twining between our univ and others but we have never seen anything.. however we are lucky to have IAESTE office in our univ .. so if you r considering to make your internship abroad in ur third year maybe then IAESTE will help a lot ..

about accreditation

Post  Admin on Mon Feb 16, 2009 1:37 pm

hey! Dr. Qassim gave the following reply about accreditation (which is more or less like wut i said):

The ECE department is not ABET accredited (ABET is an American engineering accreditation), but we are planning to apply for such accreditation.

By the way UAE Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) accreditation is much harder to get compared to ABET and ECE has full MOHE accreditation for both programs (EE and CPE).
